Trade unions complain to HR Commission over Railway GM
SriLanka, Sept. 11 -- The leaders of several public service trade unions today lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL), calling for an investigation into alleged human rights violations involving the General Manager of Railways, Ravindra Pathmapriya.
The unions alleged that the General Secretary of the Railway Station Masters' Association had been questioned by the Railway General Manager regarding alleged human rights violations and subsequently issued an apology to the media.
The trade union leaders said the circumstances surrounding the incident warranted an independent investigation by the Human Rights Commission.
