Sri Lanka, Oct. 6 -- A tragic incident occurred in the Doluwa area of Gampola today (06), where three women observing Poya Day were killed in a collision with a motor vehicle.

Police suspect that the accident was caused by the reckless driving of the woman behind the wheel.

The accident involved four elderly women who had been visiting the Doluwa Sri Bimbarama Temple. Around 1:30 p.m., they were walking along the side of the main road on their way to the temple toilets to take alms and attend to their personal hygiene when a motor vehicle approaching from behind struck them and subsequently collided with a nearby lorry.
