Sri Lanka, April 15 -- A fatal road accident occurred this morning (15) in the Buttala-Unawatuna area along the Wellawaya-Moneragala main road when a three-wheeler collided with a van.

According to reports, the three-wheeler, which was carrying a family travelling from Ampara to Colombo, had crashed into the van under circumstances yet to be determined.

The driver of the three-wheeler was killed in the accident. His wife and two children sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Buttala Regional Hospital for treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Nishantha Devapriya Bandara, a resident of Ampara.

Buttala Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
