Technical fault delays KKS Intercity train; passengers face inconvenience
Sri Lanka, July 29 -- Passengers travelling on the Kankesanthurai (KKS) Intercity Express faced delays and overcrowding today after the train developed a technical fault at the Veyangoda Railway Station.
The train had departed Colombo Fort Railway Station at 5.45 a.m. and encountered the technical fault at around 8.00 a.m., railway sources said.
As today was a Poya Day, all seats on the train had been fully reserved. Passengers were subsequently transferred to the Yal Devi Express, which arrived behind the disabled train, allowing them to continue their journey.
However, the transfer resulted in passengers from both trains travelling on a single service, causing severe overcrowding and inconvenience.
