Sri Lanka, Sept. 19 -- The gunman suspected to be involved in the shooting of activist Dan Priyasad has been arrested along with two other suspects.

Police said the suspects were arrested at a rented house in the Ranwala area with a large stock of illegal items, including 12,400 sticks of cigarettes, five elephant pearls, and narcotics.

Priyasad, the convenor of the "'Nawa Sinhale National Movement' was shot at and killed at the Laksanda Sevana Housing Complex in Wellampitiya on the night of 22 April.

The suspects, aged between 39 and 55, are residents of Kegalle and Welioya.

Investigations revealed that one of the suspects, believed to be a former soldier, had not legally discharged from service.
