Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- Opposition MP Dayasiri Jayasekera, in a letter addressed to Speaker Jagath Wickramaratne has requested him to summon Central Bank officials before the Public Finance Committee (COPF) to provide an explanation on the money printing allegations.

MP Jayasekera said the following in his letter:

Director General of the Human Rights Centre, Rajith Keerthi Tennekoon alleged that the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has engaged in printing money. Economic targets are yet to be realised despite the releasing of Rs. 1.4 trillion to the economy. It was money printing which led to a financial crisis in 2022. This fact was hidden during that time.
