Sri Lanka, July 31 -- The Meteorology Department issued a strong wind advisory for the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and the Moneragala, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts for 24 hours starting from 11 am today.

The Department said strong winds of about 40 to 50 kmph can be expected in these areas due to the active South-West monsoonal condition.

Meanwhile, the Meteorology Department said heavy showers exceeding 100 mm can be expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western Provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
