Sri Lanka, Feb. 9 -- Member of Parliament S. Sritharan has stated that he is ready to step down from his parliamentary position if the claim made by his party's General Secretary, M. A. Sumanthiran, that he voted eight times in the past to appoint military personnel to positions, is proven.

He made this statement during an interview on television, in response to allegations and action taken by the party, claiming that he voted in favour of a former military officer during the vote to appoint the new Auditor General.
