Sri Lanka, Sept. 22 -- The issue of Sri Lankans residing in Israel without valid visas was taken up for discussion at the second meeting of the Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Israeli Parliament, which focuses on strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel, Nimal Bandara, said the matter has been referred to the Committee on Foreign Workers of the Israeli Parliament for further consideration. The Committee is expected to take up the issue at its next session.

He also said that the meeting explored the possibility of offering training opportunities in Israel for officials of the Sri Lankan Parliament.
