Sri Lanka, June 3 -- Sri Lanka's tourism industry has surpassed the one-million visitor mark, recording 1,022,022 tourist arrivals during the first five months of 2026, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

The SLTDA said 145,745 tourists arrived in the country between May 1 and May 31 alone, reflecting the sector's continued growth and rising global confidence in Sri Lanka as a travel destination.

India remained the leading source market during May, contributing 60,342 visitors. Other top-performing markets during the month included the United Kingdom, China, Germany and Australia.
