Sri Lanka's foreign remittances surpass US$5 Billion in first seven months
Srilanka, Aug. 9 -- Sri Lanka's foreign remittances from overseas workers have surpassed US$5 billion during the first seven months of 2026, according to data released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
Total remittance inflows from January to July 2026 amounted to US$5,382.4 million, compared with US$4,435.2 million recorded during the corresponding period last year.
This represents an increase of US$947.2 million, reflecting a significant rise in remittance inflows compared with the same period in 2025.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka received US$777.6 millionin foreign remittances in July alone. This was an increase of US$80.3 million compared with the US$697.3 million recorded in June.
