Sri Lanka, Sept. 7 -- Special security arrangements have been implemented in and around the ward where Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa is being held at the Colombo Remand Prison, according to the Department of Prisons.

Prisons Media Spokesperson Senaka Palletenna said Rajapaksa, who is currently in remand custody, has also been granted permission to receive cooked meals from home.

He said the permission was granted following a request made on behalf of the MP.

The Colombo Magistrate's Court ordered Rajapaksa to be remanded until September 18 following his arrest by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over allegations that he accepted bribes in connection with the controversial Airbus deal.
