Sri Lanka, Aug. 1 -- The Parliamentary Staff Advisory Committee has agreed to a proposal to convert the official residence of the Speaker into a dedicated "Center for Parliamentary Studies and Research," which will serve as a resource and training hub for Members of Parliament, Provincial Council members, and Local Government representatives.
The decision was made during the committee meeting held on July 24, 2025, under the chairmanship of Speaker Dr. Jagath Wikramaratne.
As part of the initial phase, the committee approved the appointment of a Project Manager-preferably a retired senior government official-to lead, coordinate, and advise on the planning and structural development of the center over a six-month period.
