Sri Lanka, Aug. 4 -- Nuwara Eliya, August 4 (Daily Mirror) - A driver attached to the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) was arrested by Nuwara Eliya police yesterday for driving a passenger bus under the influence of alcohol.
Police said the bus, operating on the Welimada-Nuwara Eliya route, belonged to the Divulapitiya depot and was stopped at a police checkpoint in Seetha Eliya. Officers on duty detected that the driver was intoxicated while operating the bus, which was carrying a full load of passengers at the time.
Further inspection revealed several cans of liquor behind the driver's seat. The bus was immediately taken to the police station for further investigation.
