Sri Lanka, July 19 -- The sale of sanitary napkins that do not carry the required Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) certification will be prohibited in Sri Lanka from October 8, 2026, under an Extraordinary Gazette notification issued by the Consumer Affairs Authority.

The order, issued under the signature of Acting Consumer Affairs Authority Chairman S. M. D. Suriyakumara, applies to both locally manufactured and imported single-use sanitary napkins and ultra-thin or slim sanitary napkins.

Accordingly, the manufacture, packaging, distribution, transportation, storage, sale and display for sale of sanitary napkins that do not meet the required SLS standards will be prohibited from the effective date.
