Sri Lanka, March 16 -- A herd of more than 60 wild elephants that raided cultivated land and home gardens in the Paniyankadawala area in Anuradhapura caused extensive damage to crops much to the anxiety of the farmers.
Residents of the area pointed out that the marauding herd destroyed chena cultivation and the home garden crops and that they are now living in constant fear of possible danger to life.
They said it was for the first time that a huge herd of wild elephants roamed into the villages.
