Sri Lanka, Oct. 20 -- A clash between second- and third-year students was reported at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, leaving six students hospitalized and 20 others in police custody, authorities said.

The incident occurred on Monday within the university premises, prompting a swift response from campus authorities to restore order. The injured students were admitted to hospital for treatment.

Police confirmed the confrontation arose from an altercation yesterday between the two student groups.

As a precaution, the university administration instructed all second- and third-year students to vacate the faculty premises immediately.
