Sri Lanka, April 10 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning for Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and Uva provinces, as well as Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, stating that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely at several locations after 1.00 p.m.
Temporary localized strong winds may also occur during thundershowers. The public is urged to take adequate precautions to minimize damage and ensure safety from lightning-related hazards.
The risk level has been categorized as moderate.
The Department advises the public to:
Seek shelter indoors and avoid taking refuge under trees
Avoid open areas such as paddy fields, tea plantations, and water bodies during thunderstorms
