Sri Lanka, Oct. 22 -- The Department of Meteorology has warned of possible severe lightning in the Central, Eastern and Uva provinces and the Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts.

In an advisory, the Department said thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning were likely at several places in the affected areas.

It also warned that temporary localised strong winds could occur during thundershowers.

The Department urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimise damage and reduce the risks associated with lightning activity.
