Colombo, Oct. 6 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued an amber advisory warning of severe lightning in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces.
The advisory, released by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre, will remain in effect until 11:00 p.m. today. Authorities cautioned that temporary localized strong winds may also occur during thundershowers and urged the public to take precautions to minimize the risk of damage and injury.
The Department further advised the public to seek emergency assistance from local disaster management authorities if required.
