Sri Lanka, Aug. 28 -- Opposition Leader Premadasa today (27) met with a delegation from the United States House Democracy Partnership (HDP) at Parliament, with U.S. Ambassador Julie Chung also present.

During the discussions, Premadasa emphasized the vital role of the United States in Sri Lanka's economy, noting that nearly 24 percent of the country's total exports are directed to the U.S. He highlighted that about 63 percent of Sri Lanka's apparel exports are shipped to the U.S., generating around 400,000 direct jobs and supporting the livelihoods of more than one million people.
