Sri Lanka, Aug. 6 -- A verbal clash erupted between Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and government MP Susantha Nawaratne in Parliament today.

The exchange began when MP Nawaratne accused Premadasa of leaving the House after delivering his speech.

"The Opposition Leader is leaving the Chamber," he said while responding to a point raised by Premadasa.

Responding to the accusation, the Opposition Leader said he was leaving the Chamber to meet the Speaker and request that MP Chaminda Wijesiri be allowed to attend Parliament.

"Wijesiri is being denied his privilege of attending Parliament sessions while in prison. I was going to meet the Speaker about it, not because I cannot face you," Premadasa said.
