Sri Lanka, July 30 -- Sri Lanka's javelin sensation Rumesh Tharanga booked his place in the men's javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after producing an impressive throw of 82.84 metres to top the qualification round.

Tharanga's outstanding effort secured first place among all qualifiers.

Meanwhile, fellow Sri Lankan javelin thrower Sumedha Ranasinghe was unable to achieve the qualifying standard and failed to progress to the final.
