Sri Lanka, Aug. 1 -- Speculation is mounting over who will be the next head of Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) after it was announced that the election of office bearers will be held on September 9.
Rizly Illyas was the last elected head of Sri Lanka Rugby and after he moved out in 2024 the sport's administration kept changing hands and even ended up in court as two factions, one inside and the other outside, jostled for control of the game like never before.
The administration of rugby was eventually brought under a Competent Authority that was dismissed a year later and a Working Task Force set up in its place functioning under Sports Ministry supervision.
