Sri Lanka, Aug. 11 -- The Cabinet has approved a proposal to allocate Rs. 232.07 million to renovate 144 additional religious sites damaged by various disasters caused by the 'Ditwa' disaster.

According to the Government, 758 Buddhist temples, 272 Hindu religious places, 199 Muslim religious places and 99 Christian religious places were affected by disasters.

Renovation work has already been initiated at 256 of the affected sacred places using Rs. 929.69 million allocated through the Buddha Sasana Fund, Central Cultural Fund and Anagarika Dharmapala Foundation. This includes Rs. 329.62 million allocated under Cabinet decisions made on April 27 and June 15, 2026.
