Colombo, Sept. 28 -- Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe met his former political rival Mahinda Rajapaksa today at the latter's residence in Tangalle.

Wickremesinghe thanked Rajapaksa for the support extended when he was arrested and remanded last month.

Wickremesinghe visited Rajapaksa while he was returning from a personal trip according to the former President's office.
