Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- The Railway Controllers Union has announced its support for the token strike scheduled to be launched by the Railway Joint Trade Union Alliance from midnight on September 17.

The union said the trade union action is based on two main demands: the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of calls for an apology made against the Secretary of the Railway Station Masters' Association, and the removal of the current Railway General Manager from his post.

The union also expressed concern over what it described as the harsh conduct of the current Railway General Manager, saying it has created a negative attitude among its members.
