Colombo, Oct. 24 -- Mahanayake of the Malwatta Chapter Ven. Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera said Sri Lanka is already facing the threat of smuggling of contraband goods and narcotics by sea and that it would worsen if the proposed bridge linking Sri Lanka and India was built.

During a meeting with Air Force Commander Air Vice Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, the Ven, Mahanayake Thera stressed the danger of the proposed project.

The Air Force Commander attended religious observances at the Sri Dalada Maligawa before he met the Mahanayake Theras of Malwatta and Asgiriya Chapters to receive their blessings on the 74th anniversary of the Air Force.
