Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- Given several recent developments, it is timely that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake firmly stated his government would not tolerate racism from any ethnic group-Sinhalese, Tamil, or Muslim.

During the National Milad-un-Nabi or Holy Prophet's Birthday celebration in Negombo on August 26, the President said his government would not allow another ethnic or religious conflict to break out in Sri Lanka. He made this remark against the backdrop of some individuals and groups making malicious statements against some communities in mainstream media, social media and even in Parliament.
