Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police, Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasuriya, as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The letter of appointment was handed over to Priyantha Weerasuriya this afternoon (13) by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat.
This appointment has been made with the approval of the Constitutional Council, in accordance with Article 61 E (b) of the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasuriya was appointed as the 37th Inspector General of Police.
