Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- Every year on 8 September, the global physiotherapy community celebrates World Physiotherapy Day, recognizing the contribution of physiotherapists to health, wellbeing and quality of life. In 2026, the theme focuses on the role of physiotherapy and physical activity in the prevention, management and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

This year's message is particularly relevant to Sri Lanka, where stroke continues to place a considerable burden on individuals, families and the healthcare system.
