Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- President Anura Kumara Dissanayake delivered his maiden address at the General Debate of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

In his speech, the President focused on key global issues, including poverty alleviation, the debt burden faced by developing nations, and the fight against drug trafficking.

This marks President Dissanayake's first appearance at the UNGA since assuming office. He arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Tuesday morning (US time) and was welcomed by Sri Lanka's Permanent Representative to the UN, former Chief Justice and President's Counsel Jayantha Jayasuriya, along with members of the Sri Lankan delegation.
