Sri Lanka, April 7 -- The government is conducting a pre-feasibility study on resuming passenger ferry services between Mannar and Rameswaram, Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Anura Karunathilaka said today.

Responding to a question by Parliamentarian Selvam Adaikkalanathan, he said Cabinet approval was received to conduct a pre-feasibility study and that it is currently underway.

The Minister said if approval is received after the feasibility study, steps will be taken to resume the ferry service soon.

He said the ferry service will be beneficial as the goods and passenger transport will be at a lower cost between the two destinations.

The Minister said the ferry service will promote religious tourism between the two countries. ...
