Sri Lanka, Oct. 17 -- The power transmission system has been fully restored following an islandwide power failure earlier today, the National System Operator (Pvt) Ltd said.

The company said electricity supplies across the country were expected to return to normal shortly.

The islandwide power supply collapsed at around 11.45 a.m. today (17) following a major fault in the transmission network.
