Sri Lanka, Sept. 24 -- Pettah Police have launched an investigation into a video circulating on social media that was widely shared as an alleged extortion incident in the Maradana-Panchikawatta area.

Preliminary investigations have found that the incident arose from a dispute between a customer and a mobile phone repair shop over an Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max, police said.

According to police, the customer handed over the phone for a display repair at a shop in the Pollack Market shopping complex on Main Street, Pettah, on August 30. The shop charged Rs. 16,000 for the repair and returned the phone to the customer.
