Sri Lanka, Nov. 5 -- Stocks of tear gas held by the police have expired due to non-use, Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala told Parliament today.

He said any group was free to stage protests against the government, while everyone had the right to criticise the government.

"Any group is allowed to stage protests against the government. Likewise, anyone is free to criticise the government," he said.
