Sri Lanka, June 5 -- Police have sought public assistance to locate and arrest three suspects who allegedly fled the scene of the fatal road accident near the Meegoda Junction on the Avissawella-Colombo High Level Road, which claimed six lives and left seven others critically injured.

The tragic incident occurred on May 31, 2026, when a cab veered into a group of people who were waiting in line at a roadside Dansala.

The driver of the cab was arrested shortly after the accident and was produced before the Homagama Magistrate's Court on June 1. The court ordered that he be remanded until June 16 while investigations continue.
