Srilanka, Aug. 9 -- The Western Province South Crimes Division has arrested a 53-year-old man over the alleged production of counterfeit currency at a communication centre in Kotte, Mirihana.

The arrest was made during a police raid conducted, based on information received by investigators.

Police recovered a quantity of counterfeit currency notes along with equipment allegedly used in their production.

Among the items seized were seven counterfeit Rs. 5,000 notes, six Rs. 1,000 notes and one Rs. 500 note. Investigators also recovered a computer, scanner, printer, flash drive, paper cutter and ruler.
