Sri Lanka, Sept. 18 -- The Sri Lanka Navy rescued a pilot who fell overboard while attempting to board a merchant vessel near the entrance to the Colombo Port yesterday.

The incident occurred as the pilot was preparing to guide an incoming merchant vessel into the harbour. Following an immediate alert from Colombo Harbour Port Control, the Navy deployed the Inshore Patrol Craft P 164, which was patrolling near the port entrance, to conduct a search and rescue operation.

Naval personnel located the pilot in the water and safely brought him ashore at the Port Control Tower Jetty.
