Sri Lanka, April 23 -- The Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) is planning to introduce personalized vehicle number plates featuring customers name, once its existing system is upgraded, officials informed the Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance (COPF).
During a recent COPF meeting, officials pointed out that the current system is outdated and poses several technical limitations, preventing the immediate rollout of such a project.
They said work is underway to modernize the system, after which a special initiative to issue personalized number plates will be introduced.
When queried about the timeline, officials noted that the project could be launched within six months after the completion of the system upgrade.
