Sri Lanka, March 18 -- The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has announced the temporary suspension of parking fees for vehicles entering Colombo City, effective immediately and until further notice.

CMC officials told the media that the decision was made in light of ongoing fuel supply disruptions in the country, linked to the conflict in the Middle East. The council's Financial Committee approved the measure to ease difficulties faced by the public during the current global crisis.

"Parking fees are usually collected from those entering and parking within Colombo City. However, considering the hardships caused by the fuel shortage, the Financial Committee has agreed to suspend the collection temporarily," officials said.
