SriLanka, April 12 -- The National Transport Commission (NTC) says that approximately 55,000 passengers have departed from the Makumbura Multimodal Centre (MMC) to their hometowns since April 8, marking the start of travel for the Sinhala and Hindu New Year season.

This was revealed by NTC Director (Planning) Aloka Karunaratne during an tour conducted today (12) to assess the special bus service arrangements at the MMC.

The director said that April 11 recorded the number of passenger movements so far during the festive travel period.

To accommodate the increased demand, additional buses have been deployed at intervals of 15 to 20 minutes. Some buses are also scheduled to operate up to three trips per day to ensure the convenience of pa...
