Colombo, Oct. 24 -- A group of Members of Parliament, led by former Minister Ravi Karunanayake, has called for the appointment of a Select Committee of Parliament to propose the establishment of an Independent Youth Commission of Sri Lanka, aimed at empowering young people and restoring their confidence in the country's democratic process.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, the MPs urged that such a commission be set up to inquire into and make recommendations concerning youth participation in governance and policymaking.
