Sri Lanka, July 6 -- The National Transport Commission (NTC) has begun islandwide inspections today (06) to ensure strict compliance with the newly revised bus fare structure, which came into effect with increases ranging from 12% to 20%.

The revised fare system, approved by the NTC last week, has raised the minimum bus fare from Rs. 30 to Rs. 34, while adjustments have also been made for luxury and expressway bus services.

With the new pricing now in force, transport authorities have directed bus operators and staff to fully implement the updated fare structure and ensure ticketing machines are promptly recalibrated to reflect the changes.
