Sri Lanka, May 29 -- Strengthening bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and New Zealand, the new High Commission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Wellington was officially opened yesterday (28).

The inauguration coincided with the official visit of Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, and was attended by New Zealand's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Winston Peters, as the chief guest.

The ceremony commenced with Sri Lankan religious observances and traditional Maori blessings, reflecting the cultural traditions of both nations.
