Sri Lanka, Aug. 1 -- Sri Lanka's parliamentary committees on trade and public finance have jointly approved new regulations aimed at protecting local industries from unfair trade practices and sudden imports, officials said on Wednesday.
The joint meeting, chaired by Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe and MP Dr. Harsha de Silva, gave the green light to measures under the Anti-dumping and Countervailing Duty Act, No. 2 of 2018, as published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2429/32 on 27 March 2025.
Officials clarified that these anti-dumping, countervailing duty, and safeguard provisions are intended "to provide protection to local producers in Sri Lanka against unfair trade practices and sudden imports." The regulations aim to offer "relief...
