Sri Lanka, Aug. 10 -- A 49-year-old man has been arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy and the Police Special Task Force (STF) with 7,000 foreign cigarettes in Mullipuram, Puttalam.

The operation was launched based on intelligence received by SLNS Thambapanni, under the Northwestern Naval Command.

Acting on the information, naval personnel from SLNS Vijaya, together with STF officers, searched a house in the Mullipuram area and found the stock of foreign cigarettes allegedly stored illegally.

The suspect, a resident of Norochcholai, was taken into custody along with the cigarettes for further legal action.
