National drowning prevention committee to be formed
Srilanka, July 26 -- The Government has taken steps to establish a multi-stakeholder national mechanism for drowning prevention and lifesaving, with a progress review meeting held at the Parliament Complex to strengthen coordination among key agencies.
The meeting, which followed an earlier high-level discussion on the initiative, focused on developing a coordinated national framework to reduce water-related fatalities and improve public safety across Sri Lanka.
The session was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd.), Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Madhura Senevirathna, and Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Dinindu Saman Hennayake.
