Namal warns against arresting drug addicts to meet targets
Sri Lanka, Oct. 22 -- SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa today told Parliament that drug eradication cannot be achieved merely by setting targets for arrests.
He said the current approach of setting targets and arresting people to meet them was ineffective, urging the Government to recognise the limitations of such a strategy.
"Arresting drug addicts will not serve any purpose. It will only lead to further overcrowding in prisons," he added.
