Sri Lanka, June 7 -- Blaming the ruling National People's Power (NPP) government for a sharp rise in criminal activity and institutional chaos, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has raised alarm over what he described as a "complete breakdown" in the country's law and order.
In a post on social media platform X, Rajapaksa drew attention to a series of troubling incidents that have unfolded across the island in recent months.
"There have been 50 daylight shootings since January," the MP stated.
He questioned the government's ability to maintain public safety under such circumstances.
